All kindergarten through third grade students were assessed using the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) in August. DIBELS measures fluency of various reading skills. Contact your child's teacher to discuss your child's progress and get ideas on how to help your son or daughter with their reading fluency at home. Students will be assessed again in May.
Teachers and students in kindergarten, first and second grade are using The Daily Five-literacy tasks in their classrooms. Daily the students complete the tasks of : reading to themselves, reading with someone, writing, word work and listening to reading. Ask your child's teacher what a difference the routines have made in their classroom.
